  This placement would suit... Volunteers with a genuine love of the marine environment who are keen to do lots of diving in pristine conditions! Volunteers must be able to commit for three months; be able to converse in English; be able to work with guests; be available to work in shifts over weekends and irregular hours; be neat and presentable in physical appearance; be flexible and willing to work hard.

We have exciting volunteer positions at a world-renowned dive school in Kwa Zulu Natal. The dive school is a 5 Star PADI facility and presents all levels of dive courses to a wide range of clients, from entry level to advanced divers and the complete range of speciality courses. As a temporary member of staff volunteers will be allowed to obtain any dive qualification or speciality course of their choice, at no charge!

The dive school also has extensive guest lodges, self catering chalets and tented camps where they accommodate up to 150 divers at a time. These are mostly local divers from South Africa but also a large number of international tourists.

The diving conditions in the warm tropical waters of the Indian Ocean are phenomenal. The dive school is located within the Sodwana Bay National Park which is rated as a top ten dive site in the World! The diversity of marine life and coral in this area are amongst the best in the World. There are numerous reefs and in excess of 50 dive site of international standard. The dives sites are protected as a part of a national park and in pristine condition.

Volunteers are given exposure to all operations and management of a commercial guest lodge and Scuba dive camp. Volunteer duties include work in all areas of running the guest lodge accommodation, standard bar and waitering services, food preparation, driving, guest excursions, general maintenance and upkeep of the camp. Additional responsibilities would be to assist the permanent staff, dive instructors and dive masters with daily recreational dive trips for guests. Volunteers also help with the maintenance and transport of all dive equipment, boats and vehicles. Volunteers must remain flexible and willing to do all types of work required around camp.

Sodwana Bay National Park is on the east coast of South Africa in the province of Kwa Zulu Natal. This region is World-famous for its warm Indian Ocean beaches and the many game reserves in the area where Africa's big game animals and wildlife may be encountered. The local Zulu culture is also a major attraction to this province and the history of this proud nation is imprinted in all its fierce and respected warrior people.
