The Cape Winelands is an adventure in itself. This famous wine route attracts thousands of international and local visitors every year and features as one of the “must see” tourist destinations in the Western Cape. Home to some of the world’s best wines and surrounded by the opulence and splendour of centuries old wine estates, this region embodies the best of South African cuisine and hospitality.

Work & Travel South Africa offers volunteer work in tourism and hospitality positions in private game reserves, safari lodges, coastal resorts and boutique hotels.  Placements at tourism establishments in scenic locations and areas of natural beauty. 

Placement options in the city of Cape Town famous for its beautiful beaches and cosmopolitan vibe, the majestic Garden Route with its natural beauty and unspoiled coastline, and game reserves in the Greater Kruger Park area boasting prolific wildlife in pristine African bush! 

Volunteers receive live-in accommodation, all meals, a monthly personal allowance and ample time to travel and explore the region.  No experience needed as positions range from entry level to management.  Volunteers receive a completion certificate and the opportunity to experience South Africa as more than a tourist! 

We have different game lodges located in pristine African wildlife areas. Most properties are in private game reserves, many of which border on the Greater Kruger National Park, and offer unbeatable wildlife safaris to their exclusive clientele.

The Country House and Villa offers luxury and services expected of a first-class hotel, yet retaining a small country style atmosphere and embracing those home style values which a beautiful village in the Winelands is renowned for.

Set in the picturesque wine producing valley of Franschhoek, guests enjoy luxury and indulgence. This restored manor house and former perfumery dating back to 1890, is situated on the outskirts of the village and is surrounded by enchanting vineyards and the majestic Huguenot mountains.

Activities for guests include wine tasting tours on the estates in the area, or in the neighboring towns of Stellenbosch and Paarl. Cape Dutch architecture, gentle walks in the valley and visits to the historic monuments representing the area’s European heritage, are all popular pastimes. Equestrian centers offer horse riding trails and riding lessons, while the area is also ideal for shopping at Jewellery Shops, Farm Stalls, Boutiques, Arts & Crafts Centres, Curio Shops, Galleries and Antique Shops.

Lunch is served on the magnificent fountain terrace and dinner in the relaxed, yet elegant dining room. The Country House offers 14 luxury rooms leading onto balconies or private patios. All rooms have expected luxuries and amenities such as satellite TV, fire places, under carpet heating and air-conditioning.
