This placement would suit... Someone who is independent, self confident and looking for valuable media work experience.

We have three very different types of journalism work experience placements in South Africa, something to suit everyone's requirements and preferences. All three journalism placements offer the opportunity to observe, learn and gain excellent experience.

-The Cape Argus, a large daily evening newspaper in the heart of bustling Cape Town. This is a serious placement and a great opportunity with wonderful learning potential. If The Argus deems you to be very good, you'll be published frequently, enabling you to build up a good portfolio of work.

-The Big Issue, a monthly features magazine sold in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. With the Big Issue, you will be working with the editorial team, helping research and produce the articles for the magazine. They also accept people who would like some experience in layout and design. Again this is a placement where you need to show motivation, skill and action.

-CCFM, a Christian Radio Station based in Muizenberg, a suburb of Cape Town.
a 24-hour radio station with approx. 220,000 listeners. If you are capable of broadcasting, you will be asked to take on such features as presenting the news, etc.

One of the advantages of working in a small local radio station is that you get to observe and learn about all aspects of broadcasting, from being on air to collecting news to running the station.

South Africa is a huge, beautiful and rapidly changing country. Taking a journalism work placement will place you at the forefront of this change.

Travellers’ placements are very flexible and can be combined with any other Travellers placement and tailor made to your requirements!
