Having been awarded host of the 2010 World Cup (the first African nation to do so), the love for football in South Africa could not be greater, and nowhere more so than in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth (PE). The townships surrounding PE are full of keen, and often talented, young players who dream of being the next Quentin Fortune or Benny McCarthy.
Your focus will be having fun with these kids. Most come from poor backgrounds, which means that what you bring to them in friendship, coaching and life advice will impact on them and their community in a way you will always remember - and so will they!
Although the passion never fades, the opportunities to play and develop in a well-structured environment are very limited. However, by working as a football coach in South Africa, you can allow kids to enjoy the fun and serious sides of football through structured training and matches.
