This placement would suit... Cricketers keen to develop their game down under!

Are you a young cricketer, who dreams of winning the Ashes for England someday to emulate the class of 2005? And are you looking for top quality coaching to help turn you into a star of the future? Well, if so, we can offer you an unmissable opportunity to learn from cricketing legends at the Sport Lived Cricket Academy in New Zealand!

After all, who better to prepare you for combat against the Aussies later on in your career, than coaches who have played for their deadly rivals the Black Caps, the national team of New Zealand? Because yes, head coach at the Cricket Academy is former Kiwi pace bowler Brendan Bracewell, and also features additional coaching from international players such as Doug Walters, Peter Philpott, and Ashley Mallet.

The academy is based at a College located in the town of Masterton, one hour’s drive from New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington. Participants attending the academy have free access to the College’s outstanding sports facilities which include a high performance cricket centre with nets, bowling machines and video evaluation equipment. The College also has a gym, swimming pool, squash and tennis courts as well as 40 acres of sports fields.

Players at the academy receive expert tuition from head coach Brendon Bracewell. Upon arrival, each player is given an individual training programme which focuses on gym training and flexibility, and batting, bowling and wicket keeper drills. Daily gym sessions and structured practice and net sessions are organised for participants. All players also receive regular video evaluation and feedback.

One of the most appealing aspects of the cricket academy is that participants play regular matches. An academy team play in a premier club competition, playing matches every Saturday. Additional development games are also organised on some Sundays and during the week. Playing regular, competitive matches provides participants with a great opportunity to put their coaching into practice. Being part of an academy side is also great fun, fostering a wonderful camaraderie and team spirit amongst participants on the programme.

As well training, receiving coaching and playing in competitive matches, participants on the programme can also undertake coaching work. Many individuals help to coach some of the College’s junior cricket teams and also undertake private coaching work which they can be paid for, usually between £5 and £6 per hour. Coaching is lots of fun and a great way to develop key skills such as leadership, communication and organisation skills, a welcome addition to any CV!

On site accommodation at the College is also provided. Academy players stay in a dormitory where they have access to Sky TV, DVD and video players, a common room and a kitchen where they can get snacks. Breakfast, lunch and evening meals are served in the college dining hall, so you won’t have to worry about cooking. You’ll live, train and play alongside the same group of people providing you with a great chance to make new friends and have lots of fun! And all the while, you’ll have unbelievable sporting facilities at your disposal!

Players can choose how long they would like to spend at the academy. They can attend for a full season from September to March, or for half a season from either September to mid December or from mid January to March.

Places at the academy are limited so apply today and don’t miss out on your opportunity to attend the Sport Lived Cricket Academy in New Zealand.
