Honduras is situated in Central America and borders Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. It’s a country not many have heard of and if they have it’s usually because it was a dangerous place.

That was 15 years ago and now Honduras is growing into a popular tourist/backpacker destination. You'll have the chance to sleep in a hammock next to a roosting flock of Toucans, or pick a coconut and drink its fresh milk (with a bit of rum, of course) directly from its shell, or pick oranges straight off the tree, or listen to the sounds of the rainforest whilst lying in bed...

There are some fantastic places in Honduras: the area of La Mosquitia (where ‘The Mosquito Coast’ is set) is untouched by modern humanity apart from the odd ‘bush hopper’ plane. There are no roads, no electricity, no communications and few inhabitants. The towns of Tela and Omoa on the Caribbean coast are beautiful beach towns; the islands of Roatan, Utila and Cayos Cachinos offer some of the best and cheapest diving in the world; and in the small arid town of Copan sits some awesome Mayan Ruins. Honduras really has so much to offer.
